I have sangfor IAM 5200 device. I want to allow separate high bandwidth for some of external IP Addresses (not domain names, but some public ip addresses resides on internet)

I created custom application and added required external server IP addressess & in bandwidth management created new rule that allows high bandwidht to this custom applicaiton & moved this rule to TOP.

But this rule is not catching any traffic destined to custom app. How can I further investigate the issue?

in BW rule I selected this custom app,

  • Check if the traffic is hitting the IAM device: Verify if the traffic from the external IP addresses is actually reaching the IAM device. You can use tools like tcpdump or Wireshark to capture the traffic and check if it is being forwarded to the IAM device.
  • Verify the application configuration: Ensure that the custom application you have created is configured correctly. Check if the IP addresses and ports associated with the application are correct and that the application is enabled.
  • Check the bandwidth management configuration: Verify that the bandwidth management rule you have created is set up correctly. Check if the rule is enabled and that the priority is set correctly.
  • Check the firewall rules: Check if there are any firewall rules that are blocking the traffic to the custom application. Ensure that there are no conflicting rules that could be preventing the traffic from reaching the application.
  • Check the NAT configuration: Verify that the NAT configuration is set up correctly and that the external IP addresses are correctly mapped to the internal IP addresses of the application server.

network connectivity, traffic logs, and utilizing debugging tools, you should be able to identify the cause of the issue and take appropriate actions to resolve it.

Ensure that there is proper network connectivity between the Sangfor IAM 5200 device and the external servers. Verify that the device can reach the IP addresses of the external servers by performing network connectivity tests such as ping or traceroute.

To further investigate the issue with the Sangfor IAM 5200 device not catching traffic destined to the custom application, you can perform the following steps:

Verify the configuration: Double-check the configuration settings you made for the custom application and the bandwidth management rule. Ensure that you have correctly added the external server IP addresses and assigned the appropriate high bandwidth limit.

Check network connectivity: Ensure that there is proper network connectivity between the Sangfor IAM 5200 device and the external servers. Verify that the device can reach the IP addresses of the external servers by performing network connectivity tests such as ping or traceroute.

Review firewall and routing rules: Check if there are any firewall or routing rules that could be blocking or redirecting the traffic before it reaches the Sangfor IAM 5200 device. Make sure that the necessary rules are in place to allow traffic from the external IP addresses to reach the device.

Analyze traffic logs: Check the device's traffic logs or monitoring tools to see if any traffic matching the custom application's IP addresses is being logged. Look for any indications of dropped or blocked traffic, as well as any unexpected routing or NAT behavior.

Debugging and troubleshooting tools: Utilize the debugging and troubleshooting tools provided by the Sangfor IAM 5200 device to gain more insights into the traffic flow and rule matching process. These tools may include packet captures, traffic analysis, or diagnostic commands specific to the device.

Consult vendor documentation or support: If you are unable to identify the issue or resolve it on your own, refer to the vendor's documentation, user guides, or support resources. Contacting the vendor's technical support team can also provide assistance in troubleshooting and resolving the issue.

By following these steps and thoroughly investigating the configuration, network connectivity, traffic logs, and utilizing debugging tools, you should be able to identify the cause of the issue and take appropriate actions to resolve it.

Examine Traffic Classification Rules: The Sangfor IAM 5200 device identifies and categorizes network traffic using traffic classification rules. Ascertain that proper traffic categorization rules are in place to appropriately identify traffic destined for your bespoke application. Check that the IP addresses you supplied in the rule fit the traffic categorization criteria and are properly set.

Check to see if traffic is reaching the IAM device: Check to see if traffic from external IP addresses is reaching the IAM device. You may sample the traffic and see if it is being sent to the IAM device using tools like tcpdump or Wireshark.

I think the routing has an issue on this. Be sure to verify if it has no problem in network

you can verify if the network routing is correctly configured to direct the traffic towards the device where the custom application rule is defined.

If your Sangfor IAM 5200 device's custom application rule isn't catching any traffic headed for the specified IP addresses, you can check to see if any other rules may be conflicting with it or superseding it. You can also check the device's logs or use traffic monitoring tools to look for any potential problems or anomalies in the traffic flow.

Hi,

Separate Management of International & Domestic Bandwidth As businesses cross borders IT needs to be aware of usage patterns, bandwidth needs, potential risks and differing costs and challenges associated with individual international locations. With Sangfor IAM, you can separate the bandwidth management for international and domestic internet access. This is especially important in countries where dierent fees for bandwidth usage apply but also improves international user experience and reduces risk of network security issues stemming from international locations by allowing full visibility and control of both domestic and international network traffic.

Thanks

Check if the traffic to the specified external IP addresses is hitting the correct interface on the device.
