Hi
Cou can back up the VMs with the Veeam Agent for Windows or Linux.

you can try these troubleshooting steps.

1. Gather Specific Error Codes:

While you mentioned "those in object" regarding error codes, it's crucial to obtain the exact error messages or codes. These codes provide vital clues about the root cause of the backup failure.
Look for error messages in the Sangfor backup software's logs or within the Windows event viewer on the problematic VM. Common error prefixes for Sangfor might include "VBS," "VEE," "VERR," or "VHD."

2. Verify Compatibility and Permissions:

Sangfor Compatibility: Ensure your Sangfor backup software version officially supports backing up Windows 2019 file/print servers. Refer to Sangfor's documentation or support resources for compatibility details.
VM Agent and Permissions: Verify that the Sangfor VM agent is installed and running properly on the Windows 2019 VM. Double-check that the Sangfor service account has the necessary permissions to access file shares, printers, and other resources on the VM.

3. Analyze VM Configuration and Resources:

Resource Limitations: Assess whether the VM has sufficient CPU, memory, and storage resources to handle the backup process. Insufficient resources can lead to errors during backups.
Conflicting Services: Temporarily disable any non-essential services or applications on the VM that might interfere with the backup process. This can help isolate potential conflicts.
Snapshot Issues: If Sangfor uses snapshots for backups, ensure the VM's underlying storage has enough free space to create snapshots.
Antivirus or Firewall Interference: Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall software on the VM to rule out any conflicts with the backup process. Important: Re-enable these security measures after troubleshooting.

4. Check for Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS):

VSS is crucial for consistent backups. Ensure the VSS service is running and configured correctly on the Windows 2019 VM.
You can use the vssadmin list writers command in a Command Prompt window to check for errors or issues with VSS writers.

5. Address File System Errors:

Use the chkdsk /f command on the VM to scan and repair any potential file system errors on the volumes you're trying to back up.

6. Network Connectivity:

If the Sangfor backup server and the Windows 2019 VM are on different networks, ensure there's proper network connectivity between them. Check firewalls and network access control (NAC) policies that might be blocking communication.

7. Sangfor Support:

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider contacting Sangfor support. They might have more advanced troubleshooting procedures or insights specific to your Sangfor backup software version and configuration.

You are facing difficulties in backing up a specific VM, a File/Print Windows 2019 Server, during policy and individual backups. Despite encountering errors, other VMs are backed up successfully. To resolve this issue, examine the error codes, ensure proper permissions and compatibility, update the backup software, and seek help from the vendor's support or the Sangfor Firewall community if needed.

Refer to below steps in resolution of difficulties while backing up a specific VM, which is a File/Print Windows 2019 Server, using Sangfor NGAF.

1. Check the VM configuration:
Make sure the File/Print Windows 2019 Server VM is properly configured and running without any issues. Verify that the virtual machine has enough resources (CPU, RAM, and storage) and that it is accessible from the Sangfor NGAF management interface.

2. Verify backup settings:
Ensure that the backup settings for the File/Print Windows 2019 Server VM are correctly configured. Check if the backup schedule, retention policy, and backup type (incremental, differential, or full) are set up as desired.

3. Examine the error codes:
The error codes you mentioned are related to object types. These codes can help you identify the specific issue causing the backup failure. Look for the exact error code and search for its meaning in the Sangfor NGAF documentation or online resources to get a better understanding of the problem.

4. Check event logs:
Inspect the event logs on both the Sangfor NGAF appliance and the File/Print Windows 2019 Server VM for any error messages or warnings related to the backup process. These logs might provide more detailed information about the issue.

5. Update firmware and software:
Ensure that both the Sangfor NGAF appliance and the File/Print Windows 2019 Server VM are running the latest firmware and software versions. Updating to the latest versions might resolve any known compatibility issues or bugs that could be causing the backup problem.

hello,
can you please share some logs.

Hi,

Usually is because there is some external dependency to the VM that cannot allow the VM do be backuped, and when the backups starts it cannot do it wihtou releasing this dependency.

Thanks.

Hi, i suggest you to inspect the event logs and backup software logs for comprehensive error messages to identify the underlying issue. Confirm that the required backup components and services are functioning properly on the server. Ascertain that there are no network connection problems between the backup server and the VM in question. Additionally, examine any recent modifications or updates made to the VM that could be affecting the backup procedure.
