Hi,

The differences between routing and switching are:

Function: Routing involves determining the best path for data packets to traverse multiple networks, while switching focuses on forwarding packets within a local network.

Layer: Routing operates at the network layer (Layer 3) of the OSI model, while switching operates at the data link layer (Layer 2).

Decision Basis: Routing decisions are made based on the destination IP address, whereas switching decisions are made based on the destination MAC address.

Network Scope: Routing is used for interconnecting networks and enabling communication between different networks, while switching is used for local network connectivity.

Thanks
