Ubuntu Server 22.04 installation stopped

Newbie670920 Lv1Posted 07 Apr 2023 11:02

While I trying to install Ubuntu Server 22.04 on Sangfor HCI VM, installation stopped at this screen. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Update:
I wait for a few minutes and the installation seems to make a few progress. Now it stop at "key type dns_resolver registered." Is this normal, or too slow?

Update 2:
Problem solved. Just change BIOS to EUFI.

Hi,
Reboot with the option acpi=off to fix the problem.
If your using Live installer, press SHIFT upon boot up then choose the first in the list. On the next window edit the acpi into acpi=off (use END key to go to the last entry). And press CTRL + X to boot.

Ubuntu Server 22.04 needs to use UEFI instead of BIOS because it uses the modern GPT partitioning scheme by default, which requires UEFI firmware support

I think this seems to be caused by the Linux kernel

Fix all the basic requirements for installation like sometimes we have issue in boot order so for that goes into bios and set the boot order in sequence as per your boot device. Next check with the compatibility between the Linux OS and Hardware on which it will be installed after that check the user guide for CPU (Cores), RAM and memory requirement.

It's great to hear that you were able to solve the problem by changing the BIOS to UEFI. This is a common issue that many users face while installing an operating system on a virtual machine.

UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is a modern replacement for the traditional BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) that provides a more secure and flexible environment for booting an operating system.

When you changed the BIOS to UEFI, it allowed the virtual machine to recognize and use the Ubuntu Server 22.04 installer properly. This is because UEFI provides better support for modern hardware and operating systems than BIOS.
