In HCI Sangfor, what affects the speed of the VM cloning? does it speed up the cloning when this vm is not in use?
i run a clone of VM in used state it takes for 8 hour,
can it make more faster if not in used state? maybe it will take just 1 hour?

The speed of VM cloning can be affected by several factors, including:

1-Size of the VM: The larger the VM, the longer it will take to clone.

2-Storage type: The type of storage used for the VM can impact cloning speed. For example, cloning from a solid-state drive (SSD) will generally be faster than cloning from a traditional hard disk drive (HDD).

3-Network bandwidth: If the VM is being cloned across a network, the available bandwidth can impact the speed of the cloning process.

4-Resource availability: If the host system is low on resources, such as CPU or memory, this can slow down the cloning process.

5-Hypervisor type: The type of hypervisor being used can also impact cloning speed. Different hypervisors may have different optimizations for cloning virtual machines.

6-Concurrent operations: If there are other concurrent operations, such as backups or snapshots, this can also impact the speed of cloning.

Overall, the speed of VM cloning is dependent on a variety of factors, and it's important to consider these factors when planning and executing cloning operations.

depend on the size, number of vm and features

Sangfor HCI can reduce TCO by 70% or more by eliminating IT silos, over-provisioning, and simplifying data center operations. Server & Storage Virtualization.

The type of cloning process will affect the cloning speed of the VM

The big impact is the performance of the server your using

I cannot say that if you will close them then it will take less time because it ultimately depend on the size of the data stored in the VM. However, if you are using very old Server machine then definitely it will take time due to its less compute power.

It is depend on the size of the whole backup
