There are two types of HA configurations for firewalls: ACTIVE - ACTIVE and ACTIVE - PASSIVE.
They shared both the network load and the active configuration.

Best practice is to have same specs, identity and form factor

For the instances, I think it is possible.

For HA configuration of firewall there are 2 types which is ACTIVE - ACTIVE setup and ACTIVE - PASSIVE setup.
Active - Active configuration they shared both the network load or both firewall is active while the Active - Passive configuration both processes traffic flow (I recommend this kind of setup because the Passive device is triggered when the Active device failed).

Advantage/s:
Active-Active setup
1. Resillence
2. Increase on total throughput

Active-Passive setup
2. Network resillence

yes possible but HA has same link speed and same model devices
jetjetd Lv5Posted 18 Nov 2022 11:21

I think the best practice when doing an HA is having the same identity as long as possible to avoid some issues happening. If you are using a virtual instance might as well the HA device is virtual instance also the same if you are having a hardware.
