Just create 1 account in local authentication (your account). This is use for management purposes. The rest of the users' account will be created under LDAP already.

Each Active Directory or LDAP user logs in to SL1 using his/her Active Directory or LDAP username and password, and SL1 will use Active Directory or LDAP to authenticate that user.

I think you must finished setup first the external auth then test.

If you setup an external auth server, Local auth is disabled by default.

Yes, just set up a new External Auth Server and automatically it will not used the local authentication.

Step 1.

    Add a new LDAP Server under the External Auth Server.

   

   Step 2.

   Enter the details such as Server Name, IP Address of the external authentication server, the admin account username and password and select the BaseDN. After entered all the details, click the Test Validity to check whether able to connect the external authentication server or not.

   

   Step 3.

   After tested the validity, a message will prompt out to show the result.

   

   Step 4.

   Click the Sync with all LDAP servers to sync all the data.
