Linux VM unable to Boot Up

Issue Description

User has migrated Linux VM from HyperV to Sangfor HCI and found the VM is unable to boot up.

Error/Warning Information

Handling Process

1. Try modify the bios option to seabios mode, but not working.


2. Switch back to UEFI mode, and modify the Bios post time.


3. Power on the VM, and click keyboard spacebar to access the VM Bios. Then, select "Boot Maintenance Manager".


4. Select "Boot Options."


5. Select "Add Boot Option".


6. Click "Enter".


7. Select the shimx64.efi for testing, if not working continue to try on grubx64.efi and mmx64.efi.


8.Enter a description, then commit the changes and exit.


9. Next, change the boot order.


10. Modify the boot order sequences by clicking the" - =" symbol, make sure the "Sangfor" is at the top.

11. Save the change and reboot the system, now the VM able to bootup normally.

Root Cause

After migration, the Linux bootloader is missing.

Solution

Manually add the efi bootloader.
