Sangfor SCMT: Streamlining P2V & V2V Workloads

Migrating production workloads can be challenging, especially when moving from physical servers or different virtualization platforms. Sangfor SCMT (Cloud Migration Tool) provides a practical approach for migrating workloads to Sangfor HCI with minimal disruption.
1. P2V & V2V Migration
SCMT supports production migration from physical servers (P2V), mainstream virtualization platforms (V2V), and cloud environments to the Sangfor HCI platform.
2. Windows & Linux Support
SCMT supports both Windows and Linux operating systems, providing flexibility when migrating different workloads.
3. Hot Migration
One of the key capabilities is hot migration, allowing workloads to be migrated while the source system is running, helping reduce service interruption during the migration process.
4. Network Requirements
Before starting a migration, ensure the source physical server can communicate directly with the Sangfor aCloud/HCI Cluster IP. Proper network connectivity is essential for a successful migration.
5. Multiple Concurrent Migrations
SCMT does not impose a strict maximum number of concurrent VM migration tasks. If available system resources become insufficient, the built-in queuing mechanism can manage pending tasks and start them when enough resources become available.
Key Takeaway:
Successful workload migration is not only about moving the VM or server — proper planning of network connectivity, OS compatibility, migration method, available resources, and workload dependencies is essential for a smooth transition.
