External Device whitelist on MAC endpoint

good day, everyone.

i am about to do device whitelisting on MAC users on the endpoint platorm my question is what is effect of read-only in the control policy on the option that i have marked.

any insights will be appreciated, thank you

If a USB/storage device is:

Whitelisted + Read-Only

User can:

Open files
Copy files from USB → Mac
View contents

User cannot:

Copy files from Mac → USB
Edit and save changes back to the USB
Create new files on the device
