#Troubleshooting# NGAF Upgrade Failed Due to Insufficient Disk Space

Muhammad Abid Lv2Posted Mar-17-2026 15:20

Issue Description:
During firmware upgrade activity on the NGAF firewall, the upgrade process failed, and the system displayed an error indicating that disk space was insufficient. The upgrade could not proceed further, which delayed the maintenance activity.

Product & Version:
Sangfor NGAF – Firmware Version 8.0.x

Root Cause:
The issue was caused by excessive log file accumulation in the system storage directory. Over time, continuous logging consumed significant disk space, which resulted in insufficient free storage required for firmware upgrade package extraction and installation.

Solution:

  • Logged in to the NGAF backend via CLI.
  • Navigated to the log storage directory /sfdata/log/.
  • Identified and removed unnecessary or old log files to free up disk space.
  • Verified available storage using disk usage commands.
  • Re-initiated the firmware upgrade process.

Verification:
After clearing the unnecessary log files, sufficient disk space became available. The firmware upgrade was completed, and firewall services remained stable after reboot.
