hi Community,

Can we change this ssh port to default ssh port 22 ? Is there any reason why sangfor used port 22345 here ?

thanks

I believe it's for security.  and it is at your own risk to switch the port to the default SSH port, 22.

I think ... Yes, you can change the SSH port back to the default port 22 if you prefer. To do this, simply update the "SSH Port" field in your Sangfor device's configuration from 22345 to 22.

Yes, it can be changed (but please do so at your own risk). For your information, port 22 is frequently attacked.

HiHi,

Yes, reverting it to port 22 is possible, but Sangfor probably opted for 22345 for security purposes.
However, utilizing port 22 could potentially increase the risk of hacking attempts.

Yes, you can change the SSH port back to the default port 22, but there are important security and operational considerations to keep in mind, especially if you're referring to Sangfor appliances or solutions (like Sangfor NGAF, IAM, or HCI).

It is easy to change it back to port 22, although Sangfor most likely chose port 22345 for security reasons.  Nevertheless, using port 22 might make hacking efforts more likely.

Yes, you can change the SSH port to the default port 22 by simply editing the value in the SSH Port field and saving the configuration.

Reason for Using a Non-Standard Port
The primary reason Sangfor or the administrator uses a non-standard port like 22345 is for security.

Using the default SSH port 22 makes the device an easy target for automated bots and scanners on the internet that continuously look for open port 22 to launch brute-force attacks. By changing the port to a random, high number, the device becomes less visible to these automated attacks, reducing the overall risk and attack surface. This practice is a common security measure known as "security through obscurity."

Yes, by simply changing the value in the SSH Port box and saving the settings, you may set the SSH port to the default port of 22.  Justification for Using an Unusual Port  Security is the main justification for Sangfor or the administrator using a non-standard port like 22345.  By using the default SSH port 22, the device becomes a prime target for online automated bots and scanners that are always searching for open port 22 to initiate brute-force attacks.  The device is less visible to these automated attacks when the port is changed to a random, high number, which lowers the attack surface and overall risk.  As a frequent security measure, this method is called "security through obscurity."
