HCI-Hyper Converged Infrastructure

Newbie904456 Lv1Posted May-03-2025 19:15

It seems that Sangfor HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure) is designed to work with at least three physical servers. However, I'm wondering if it's possible to use Sangfor's virtualization platform in a more traditional architecture.
For example, could I deploy Sangfor in a classic setup with:

  • 3 physical servers,

  • 1 shared storage unit (SAN),

  • and 2 SAN switches?

Can I implement Sangfor virtualization in this kind of traditional architecture?
Also, what would be the advantages and disadvantages of doing so?

Yes, it is technically possible to deploy Sangfor HCI components (especially its virtualization and management stack) in a traditional infrastructure setup.

Also, what would be the advantages and disadvantages of doing so?
advantages : Useful if you're migrating to Sangfor from another virtualization stack but want to reuse existing SAN infrastructure.

disadvantages : Sangfor’s key strengths "data locality, built-in high availability, and distributed storage" won't be utilized.
Sangfor may not officially support traditional architectures in production. Support and updates could be limited or conditional.

I hope you found my answer helpful.
