hi community i am facing error on HCI sangfor . i import ova of pnet lab iin  hci sangfro cloud. import vm is successfully done. but when vm starts . we are facing error niether intel VTx or AMD -v found. in vmware we will resolve this by enabling nested virtulization or enabling virtulization enigne. but how can we achieve this in hci vm .please suggest and guide us.thanks

Hi, already faced this on our virtual machines.

Hi there, never heard of it but based on what I've googled it's like a virtualbox or vmware that can run multiple VM to simulate a running network. Since u have said that in vmware "enabling nested virtulization or enabling virtulization enigne." is required to run it, I may have a clue what's going on.

Unfortunately, Sangfor HCI doesn't support nested virtualization. That may be the cause of the error. If u require further checking, u may log a case to sangfor support to verify it. They'll assist u on this

It sounds like you're running into a common virtualization issue when trying to run a nested hypervisor (like GNS3/pnetLab) within a Sangfor HCI VM. The error "Neither Intel VT-x or AMD-v found" means the VM itself doesn't have access to the underlying hardware virtualization capabilities, which are necessary for the nested hypervisor to function.

Here's how you can typically address this in Sangfor HCI and some things to check:

**1. Enable Nested Virtualization in Sangfor HCI**

* **Hypervisor Settings:** Sangfor HCI is likely based on either KVM or a similar hypervisor. You'll need to find the settings for your specific VM within the Sangfor management interface. Look for options related to CPU features or  "hardware-assisted virtualization" and ensure they are enabled for the pnetLab VM. The exact terminology might vary.
* **Sangfor Documentation:** Consult the official Sangfor HCI documentation for the specific steps to enable nested virtualization. They should have instructions on how to expose the necessary CPU flags to your VMs.

**2. Verify BIOS/Firmware Settings**

* **Host Server:** Even if you enable nested virtualization in Sangfor, ensure that VT-x (Intel) or AMD-V (AMD) is enabled in the BIOS/firmware of the *physical* servers hosting the Sangfor HCI cluster. If these are disabled at the hardware level, nested virtualization won't work.

**3. Check VM Compatibility**

* **pnetLab OVA:** Ensure the pnetLab OVA you're using is compatible with the hypervisor Sangfor HCI uses (likely KVM). Some OVAs are optimized for specific hypervisors (like VMware).
* **Sangfor Requirements:** Sangfor might have specific requirements or recommendations for running nested hypervisors. Check their documentation or support resources.

**4. Resource Allocation**

* **CPU and Memory:** Nested virtualization can be resource-intensive. Make sure you've allocated enough CPU cores and memory to the pnetLab VM in Sangfor HCI.

**5. Sangfor Support**

* **Contact Support:** If you're still having trouble, the best course of action is to reach out to Sangfor support directly. They should have the most specific guidance for enabling nested virtualization in their HCI environment.

**Important Notes:**

* **Performance:** Nested virtualization can have performance implications. Be aware that your pnetLab instances might not run as fast as they would on bare metal or a directly installed hypervisor.
* **Licensing:** Some hypervisors have licensing restrictions on nested virtualization. Make sure your Sangfor HCI license allows for this use case.

I hope this information helps! If you can provide more specifics about your Sangfor HCI version and the pnetLab OVA you're using, I might be able to give more tailored advice. Good luck!
