Sangfor Asv / DRS

Currently we are running few vmware esxi servers managed by Vcenter. All servers have there own local storage. There is no SAN or HA configured nor required. For backup of vm's , we use Veeam Backup & Replication tool that takes weekly backup of all VM's to local NAS repository. Also for some critical VM's we use VEEAM to replicate few vm's to our DR site which is connected to our primary site via Radio (all on Layer 2 same network).

6 servers at PRI site, 2 servers at DR site (for some critical VM's replication purposes)

We are evaluating options for vmware alternatives & Sangfor seems a good choice. If we go with sangfor aSV ,
- Does it have Centralized contoler builtin liek vcenter ?
- Can we move any VM' from one phsycical server to another server (in power off mode) ?
- Does it have builtin Backup utility ?
- Can we replicate few Vm's from one site to another site on same network ?

does attached BOQ be enough for above requiremnts?

Hi
Sangfor aSV is indeed a potential alternative to VMware, particularly if you're looking for an integrated virtualization and management solution. Here's how Sangfor aSV stacks up on the features you mentioned:

1.Centralized Controller (like VMware vCenter):
Yes, Sangfor provides a centralized management interface for aSV, similar to vCenter. This centralized console allows administrators to manage, monitor, and configure the virtual environment, as well as perform tasks like VM deployment, migration, and performance monitoring.

2.VM Migration (Power-Off State):
Yes, aSV supports VM migration across physical servers within the same cluster, even if the VM is in a powered-off state. This allows you to redistribute resources and manage load across different hosts as needed, though it may lack the live migration capabilities you get with VMware vMotion.

3.Built-in Backup Utility:
Sangfor aSV includes a built-in backup solution designed for VM protection and disaster recovery. It provides snapshot-based backups, allowing you to create point-in-time copies of your VMs. This feature supports scheduled backups and restoration, giving a level of flexibility in managing your data and configurations.

4.Site-to-Site VM Replication (Same Network):
Sangfor supports replication features, allowing you to replicate VMs from one site to another, provided both sites are on the same network or are connected via a reliable network connection. This feature can be useful for disaster recovery and ensuring data redundancy across sites.
Is this answer helpful?

good.
Particular to point 4.Site-to-Site VM Replication (Same Network): we have 6 servers at PRI site, and 2 server at DR site for replication purposes.

Do we need to acquire extra license for it ? aDR for Pri and aDR for secondary or what?

example PFA attached quote. will this BOQ be enought for replication as well?

Hi, based on your scenario, i think you have to deploy a dedicated hci with adr on the secondary site if you want to achieve a disaster recovery. You have to licence hci and adr solution on disaster recovery site.
