Hi, i think you are talking about Sangfor NGAF m5100. Try following these steps:

Restore password with USB Drive:
1. Create an empty txt file named reset-password.txt or Copy the reset-password.txt file to the root directory of U Disk;
2. Insert the U disk, restart the device;
3. When the device can normally log on to the WebUI, pull out the U disk;
4. See the results of the U disk file reset-password.log,If the recovery is successful, record the restored console password in this file, otherwise the log is recorded the recovery failure information.

Notes:
1. This TXT file can be directly on the Windows system to establish an empty TXT file, the file name to reset-password.txt;
2. The txt file must be in the root directory of the U disk;
3. U disk can be single or multiple partitions. A single partition of the U disk format must be FAT32; a multi-partition U disk must put the txt file in the first partition, and the first partition format must be FAT32.
Is this answer helpful?

The Sangfor M5100 AC-I-S is an older device, and the firmware update process might be more complex. Since you are having trouble using the firmware updater app with a cross cable, its recommend to try the following options:

1. Upgrade via serial port: You can try using a serial cable to connect to the M5100 and update the firmware manually. You'll need to use a serial terminal software like HyperTerminal or PuTTY to connect to the device's serial port. Refer to the M5100's user manual or online documentation for the correct serial port settings and commands.

2. Use a USB-to-RS232 adapter: If you don't have a serial cable, you can try using a USB-to-RS232 adapter to connect to the M5100's serial port. This might allow you to update the firmware using the serial port method.
