- Ensure your backup software supports the new HCI version, as incompatible software may cause backup failures or data loss.
- Test backup and restore operations after the upgrade to confirm they work correctly and data can be restored without issues.
- The new version may fix bugs and security vulnerabilities, enhancing the reliability and security of your backup process.
- Plan for potential downtime during the upgrade process. Backup operations may need to be paused or rescheduled to avoid conflicts.
- Down time require

Hi, checking the upgrade guide document for HCI 5.8.3 i see that all the vm must be powered off and if a task starts when the hci is upgrading (even a backup task), the upgrade might fail

Hello Dear

Depending on a number of variables, upgrading from HCI 5.2 to HCI 5.3 (or higher) may have an effect on virtual machine backup. The following things to bear in mind are:

Adaptability:
Make sure the backup solution you're employing works with HCI 5.3 and above. For information on any known problems or changes necessary to keep compatibility, check with the vendor of your backup service.

Feature Modifications:
Updates could bring forth new functionality or modify how already-existing functionality works. To learn about any changes that may have an impact on your backup procedures, see the release notes for HCI 5.3.

Configuration Parameters:

Check to see that backup policy and schedule configuration settings are maintained throughout the update. Certain updates may necessitate reconfiguration or reset settings.

Effect on Performance:
New iterations may have distinct performance attributes. Check that the backup performance satisfies your needs by testing it after the upgrade.

Methods for Backup and Restore:

Make that your backup and restore processes function as intended by testing them in a non-production setting both before and after the update.

Issues that are known:
Look over the documentation for any known problems or defects with the latest version's backups.
