Unable To Boot VM In DR(Secondary) Site

Issue Description

Version: aCloud5.8.6 with aCMP
On aCMP, DR Plan had been configured and there is a backup synchronized to DR site(Secondary site).
However, the VM showed in DR site shows “OS is not installed” and it unable to be power on.

Handling Process

The VM will need to be recover first before powering on the VM.

Root Cause

Due to the VM is in DR(Secondary) site, it is normal that it unable to be power on as it will affect the VM running in DC(Primary) site.

Solution

Steps to recover the VM.
1) Select the VM that wish to do recover.
2) For Recovery Method, select upon disaster occurrence which will not powered off the VM in primary site.
3) Select the Recovery Point and click Recover.
4) After the recover and testing is completed, you will need to migrate the VM back to primary site in order to continue syncing the data from primary site to secondary site.
5) Select the Destination Node and Destination Datastore.
