VMware → Sangfor Migration (Oracle Cluster Sizing & Licensing Impact) 10

Hi everyone,

I’m working with a customer who is planning to migrate from VMware to Sangfor, and we have a question regarding sizing and Oracle licensing.

Current environment:

Oracle cluster running on 10 VMware hosts
The setup is stable and meeting performance requirements

Main concern:
The customer wants to understand how many physical servers would be required in Sangfor to support the same workload.

Since Oracle licensing is tied to physical resources, adding more hosts could significantly increase licensing costs. Because of this, accurate sizing is critical.

Questions:

Has anyone migrated a similar Oracle workload from VMware to Sangfor?
Did you need to increase the number of physical hosts after migration?
Are there any real-world examples or best practices for sizing in this scenario?
If possible, are you able to share any customer cases or references (even anonymized) where this type of migration was done?

Any insights, experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Compatible? Yes
Possible Same host count, but it's not guaranteed
Oracle licensing scope—not raw performance
Dedicated, right-sized Oracle cluster

Do not size Sangfor by counting VMware hosts.
You size by:

Actual Oracle workload demand
HA / failover requirement
Performance SLA
Oracle licensing boundary strategy
Storage latency requirements
Growth forecast

It is completely possible that:

10 VMware hosts today could become fewer Sangfor hosts
Or remain similar
Or require more hosts if current environment is overcommitted / underperforming / poorly designed
