jkia Lv1Posted 03 May 2023 13:23

Hello, we have been getting an error prompt that the physical disks are offline but these disks are physically connected to the HCI upon inspection. What seems to be the problem?

1. When there is only single disk offline, it might be the disk loosen or encounter abnormalities like bad sectors, IO error and such.
Suggestion:
a. In this situation, you may try to replug the disk and observe the disk status.
b. Take note that the disk must be in JBOD mode as replugging disk with other mode like RAID0/1 might not support hot replug.

2. When multiple/all disk offline in the same node, it is possible that the cache disk is offline or the RAID controller is encountering problem.
Suggestion:
a. Replug the cache disk if it is offline and monitor the disk status.
b. Check the RAID controller logs to determine whether it is damaged or offline.

If the suggestion above doesn't help, you may contact Sangfor Technical Support for further inspection and assistance.

To diagnose the issue, you may need to check the configuration of the disks and the HCI, run diagnostics on the hardware, and review the logs to see if there are any error messages or alerts that could help identify the problem. It may be necessary to consult with the vendor or manufacturer of the HCI or disks to get further support in troubleshooting the issue.

Initialize the disk

Check the system settings and ensure that the disks are correctly connected and configured. You should also check for firmware upgrades for the HCI to guarantee disk compatibility.

Disk Configuration Issues: The disks may be incorrectly configured within the HCI, causing them to seem offline. This might be due to RAID setup, partitioning, or other settings difficulties.

Examine the disk state in the HCI management interface: Examine the disk status in the HCI management interface to ensure that the disks are being detected and recognized appropriately. If the disks do not appear in the administration interface, there might be a problem with the physical connection or disk setup.

It's conceivable that the disks aren't correctly set on the Sangfor HCI, or that the HCI firmware isn't detecting them. Check the system settings and ensure that the disks are correctly connected and configured. You should also check for firmware upgrades for the HCI to guarantee disk compatibility.
