There are two methods to add external Storage in HCI.
Method-1

1. Add a new VLAN "100" (External-SAN) in TOR switches.
2. Assign same VLAN IP address to Third party SAN Controller.
3. Allow new created VLAN on all trunk ports connecting to Nodes.
4. Create a Port group in HCI Network portion and connect to Physical Edge.
5. Create a Virtual Switch and allow VLAN 100.
6. Now Connect the new virtual switch with VM where you want to mount volume.
7. Add a new NIC in VM and assign VLAN 100 IP to VM.
8. Now you can add iscsi volume in the VM.

1. First you need to connect external SAN to HCI TOR Switch
2. Create new vLAN at specific ports which are connected with external SAN
3. Add this vLAN to management/VXLAN/production, remember we have 3 existing vLAN
4. Create new port group  and switch under Edge Network
5. Assign same vLAN to new port group
6. Set Traffic limit to 10gig on this switch, if you are using 25gig for production/VXLAN/management.
7. Edit VM and add new NIC inside VM
8. Create new LUN at SAN and give access to VM
9. Open iSCSI initiator and assign IP address of SAN
10. click on connect button, once connected open disk management in VM
11. New disk will be shown in the iist

No problem on the setup if you want additional storage via SAN

Edit the VM Settings then restart.

You may modify the Datastore to increase or decrease the storage of a given VM, then apply the changes and restart the VM.

Configure it using the "Management Interface" and the "Overlay Network Interface (VXLan)," just enter the server name and IP address.

What is your main issues?

The VM is located on vSAN. All nodes in the HCI cluster have access to vSAN. We need to install a new drive from an external SAN (HPE MSA). There will be no benefit to editing an existing vSAN datastore.
