Failed to shrink volumes on Windows disk managementr.

Issue Description

When perform 'shrink volume' on Disk Management to create new partitions, an error message is prompted.

Error/Warning Information

Handling Process

1.Try to enable the Virtual Desktop Manager from services.msc but no effect.
2.Suspect something is preventing the service from starting up.
3.Check for any installed antivirus program.
4.Force start the service manually using Windows command prompt with Administrative privillege.

Root Cause

1.Windows failed to start 'Virtual Disk Manager' service.

Solution

1.Open command prompt with Administrator privillege.
2.Enter the command below:
sc config defragsvc start= demand

3.Now can shrink the volume normally.
