Hi, when it comes to choosing paths in SD-WAN,“specified path" and "multipath" are two distinct strategies for directing traffic:

Specified Path: Imagine setting a GPS to a single route before starting your journey. This is what a specified path is like. The network administrator plots a specific course for data packets, much like choosing a road based on traffic, road conditions, or tolls. This path is fixed and follows the criteria set by the admin.
Multipath: Now, think of having a GPS that can adapt in real-time, suggesting alternate routes as conditions change. That’s multipath for you. It’s like having several roads to choose from, and the system picks the most efficient one on the fly, considering current traffic, roadblocks, or accidents. This dynamic selection ensures that data flows smoothly, even if one path gets clogged or cut off.
In essence, while a specified path is a single, pre-chosen route, multipath is akin to having an intelligent navigation system that selects the best route from many, in real-time.
Is this answer helpful?

hi, that is for path selection the traffic will be forwarding,
if you select specified path you can choose specific link to forwarding packet
if you choose multipath, the traffic will be forwarding best on quality of link
