About Link Aggregation in Sangfor HCI

I have 3 nodes. They are connected to each other via Cisco L2 switch. I configured link aggregation in HCI. Do I have to configure EtherChannel on Cisco swith?

Yes, you do need to configure EtherChannel on the Cisco L2 switch to enable link aggregation between the Sangfor HCI nodes. This is because EtherChannel is the Cisco implementation of link aggregation, and it is necessary for the switch to recognize and manage the aggregated link.

Here are the steps on how to configure EtherChannel on a Cisco L2 switch:

Identify the ports that you want to include in the EtherChannel.
    Create an EtherChannel bundle.
Assign a channel group number to the EtherChannel bundle.
Add the ports to the EtherChannel bundle.
Configure the EtherChannel bundle to use LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol).

Once you have configured EtherChannel on the Cisco L2 switch, the Sangfor HCI nodes will be able to use link aggregation to increase the bandwidth and redundancy of their network connections.

Once your HCI nodes and the switch have been configured for link aggregation and EtherChannel, test connection to make sure failover is functioning as it should and that traffic is evenly distributed over the aggregated links.

After configuring EtherChannel on the switch and link aggregation on your HCI nodes, perform connectivity testing to ensure that traffic is being balanced across the aggregated links and that failover is working as expected.

You may maximize the utilization of the aggregated links and provide your HCI environment a more reliable and effective network connection by configuring EtherChannel on your Cisco switch. If you are unsure of the precise setup instructions for your switch model, please refer to your Cisco switch manual or ask your network administrator for help.

Yes, By setting up EtherChannel on your Cisco switch, you'll optimize the use of the aggregated links and provide a more stable and efficient network connection for your HCI environment. Please consult your Cisco switch documentation or seek assistance from your network administrator if you are unfamiliar with the specific configuration steps for your switch model.

Ensure that the configuration on the Cisco switch matches the configuration on your HCI nodes. This includes the load-balancing method and other settings. Consistency is crucial for proper functioning.

Yes you should configure the L2 Cisco switch to aggregate links or combined links

In order to provide load balancing and redundancy, you must configure EtherChannel on the Cisco switch so that it views the aggregated links from your HCI nodes as a single logical link.

Create an EtherChannel group on the switch and specify the appropriate configuration parameters, such as the load-balancing method, the number of links to include, and the negotiation mode (e.g., LACP - Link Aggregation Control Protocol or PAgP - Port Aggregation Protocol).

Etherchannel will not work if you don't configure it to the Cisco Device
