TrueNAS Server unable to be deployed on VM.

Issue Description

In certain cases, users are not able to deploy the TrueNAS Server on the VM.

Error/Warning Information

VM will be stuck on the screen below:

Handling Process

1) Create a new VM and configure the Guest OS as "Linux 5.X Kernel (64-bit)

2) Upload the iso file to VS and install the OS on the VM.

3) The VM will then be booted.

4) Select Install/Upgrade.

5) Space to select the drive, then select OK.

6) Select [Yes].

7) Enter root password. [Can set as "root"]

8) Select .

9) Select create swap


10) The installation will begin.

11) Select [OK]

12) Reboot the system.

13) The OS will then restart and the server isdeployed successfully.


14) Configure the Network interface and Default Route according to gain access to the Web UI.

Root Cause

On step 8, it is suspected that users chose <Boot via UEFI>, instead of choosing <Boot via BIOS> that caused the TrueNAS server to fail the deployment.
