Configuration Steps——

Step 1. Go to “Reliability” > Scheduled Backup/CDP.

Step 2. Click “Add New Policy”.

Step 3. A new screen will pop up.Backup policy support weekly, daily, and hourly based schedule.

Step 4. Select the start time to execute the policy. It supports selecting multiple day in a week.

Step 5. Set an appropriate maxduration for a schedule backup. When it reached, the subsequent backup task will not be executed.

Step 6. You can also tick the option to cancel the ongoing tasks upon timeout.

Step 7. For the “Enable periodic full backup”, it can make a full backup periodically rather than an only incremental backup. This is to reduce the time of backup recovery and merging.

Step 8. Select the appropriate month and start date to execute full backup.

Step 9. For the weekly schedule backup retention setting. It will preserve all backups for the recent months by default.


Step 10. You can click on “Add” to preserve more backup for another month. Click “Ok” and “Next”.


Step 11. Select the virtual machine and click “Next”.

Step 12. Select the backup repository to store the VM backup.

For the “Archive backup to other datastores”. It can archive thebackup to a specified datastore.

Step 13. Select the archive repository.

Step 14. Click on the “Advanced”. It allows to configure the start month, date, and retention period for the archive backup. Click “Ok” and “Next”.

Step 15. Enter the policy name and description. Click “Next”.

Step 16. Check the policy summary and ensure the configuration is correct.

Step 17. Click “Ok” and the new backup policy will be created.
