Application Layer Throughput Options

May i know, what is Application Layer Throughput Options refering to? How to identify the spec is sufficient enough?

Please advise.

Application Layer Throughput is measured with Application Control enabled. Usually you can identify the spec base on the number of your concurrent users in your network environment.

Thank you for your answer. Lets say the customer has a bandwidth is 5gb and the concurrent user is 3000. So what is the most important think should we focus either the application layer throughput or the Recommended Concurrent Users? If we focus on the Application Layer Throughput the model should be M9000 if we focus on the Recommended Concurrent Users the model should be M5500.

Please advise.

1. Ensures that the receiving device is identified, reachable and ready to accept data
2. When appropriate, enables authentication between devices for an extra layer of network security
3. Makes sure necessary communication interfaces exist, such as whether there is an Ethernet or Wi-Fi interface in the sender's computer
4. Ensures agreement at both ends on error recovery procedures, data integrity and privacy
5. Determines protocol and data syntax rules at the application level
6. Presents the data on the receiving end to the user application

I know the ideal max throughput is 100 Mbps, but I think it doesn't make much sense at least for a mobile device because in live network

You must identify throughput requirements for all applications that can benefit from maximized application layer throughput, such as file transfer and database applications. (Throughput is not important for all applications; for example, some interactive character-based applications don't need large screen updates.) Explain to your customer the factors that constrain application layer throughput, which include the following:

• End-to-end error rates

• Protocol functions, such as handshaking, windows, and acknowledgments

• Protocol parameters, such as frame size and retransmission timers

• The PPS or CPS rate of internetworking devices

• Lost packets or cells at internetworking devices

• Workstation and server performance factors:

- Disk-access speed

- Disk-caching size

- Device driver performance

- Computer bus performance (capacity and arbitration methods)

- Processor (CPU) performance

- Memory performance (access time for real and virtual memory)

- Operating system inefficiencies

- Application inefficiencies or bugs
