Dear Forum Members,

We’re looking to improve how you navigate long documents in our Sangfor Support portal (https://support.sangfor.com). Right now, some articles require you to click through 5+ levels of the left-hand menu before you can see the actual content. That’s too many clicks, and we want to hear your true voice and improve it.

We’ve prepared three navigation concepts. Each concept changes how many levels live in the left sidebar and whether the right-hand Page Directory is used for in-page navigation.

Style 1 — Left: 2 levels + Right: Page Directory

Only the top two levels are shown in the left sidebar. Deeper headings for the current page appear in the right-hand Page Directory.

Style 2 — Left: 3 levels + Right: Page Directory

The left sidebar shows three levels. Finer-grained headings within the page are still available in the right-hand Page Directory.

Style 3 — Left: 4+ levels + Right: No Page Directory

The left sidebar maintains the full hierarchy (four or more levels). There is no right-hand Page Directory, giving the article more room.

How to Vote

(1) Reply to this post with your favorite option: style 1, style 2, or style 3. We’d also love to hear why you prefer it — your reasoning is just as valuable as the vote itself.

(2) All participants will get 100 coins for their vote, and 200 coins for their vote reasoning or other suggestions.

Timeline

Voting is open until [ September 10, 2026]. We’ll announce the winning concept shortly after.

Your feedback will directly influence the default navigation experience for all Sangfor Support users. We want a design that works for both newcomers who need simplicity and power users who need deep structure.

In my opinion Style 3 being more elaborated and having bookmarks for each main section makes it far more user friendly. The bookmarks act like a roadmap, so readers don’t get lost in the details and can jump directly to the step they need.

This structure is especially effective when:
  • The process involves multiple sequential steps.
  • Different team members may only need to reference specific sections.
  • Efficiency and clarity are priorities, since bookmarks reduce time spent scrolling.

Style 3
I prefer this style because it makes the documentation easier to read and understand. Having the full hierarchy visible in the left sidebar helps me see the overall structure at once, without needing to switch between different menus or directories. It feels more intuitive for long technical documents.

I prefer wih Style 3, classic but simple especially for new comer.
Too many navigation will make user confuse and not elegant.
