Sangfor HCI on two different clusters and CPU vendors 30

Dears

I have an 8-node sangfor HCI cluster with AMD EPYC 75f3 32-core CPUs
I would like to create a new cluster with four new server nodes equipped with dual Intel® Xeon® processors 6767P with 64 cores
Are those different clusters of CPU types compatible with migration of virtual machines

HiHi,

HCI compatibility is based on the official compatibility chart, and any CPUs not listed must be verified through testing. You can refer to the link below to check the HCI Compatibility List.

Yes, this system can migrate VMs between clusters and CPU compatibility is handled properly.
Cold migration is done with proper testing.

Live migration of virtual machines between an AMD EPYC-based Sangfor HCI cluster and an Intel Xeon-based cluster is not supported due to fundamental hypervisor restrictions that require identical CPU vendor families for vMotion-like operations; however, you can still move VMs using alternative methods such as cold migration where the VM is powered off and relocated across clusters (downtime is required but data integrity is maintained), or by utilizing Sangfor's official Cloud Migration Tool (SCMT) which performs incremental synchronization followed by a brief final cutover to minimize downtime while automatically adjusting CPU and driver compatibility, and for large-scale migrations third-party tools may offer additional automation though they are not necessary for most scenarios—the underlying reason for this limitation lies in the KVM hypervisor architecture used by Sangfor HCI, which like VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V enforces strict CPU vendor homogeneity to ensure stability and prevent subtle instruction set mismatches between AMD and Intel processors, meaning that while cross-architecture clusters cannot coexist for live migration, the separate clusters remain fully functional and VMs can be transferred via supported offline or tool-assisted workflows provided network connectivity and HCI version compatibility are verified beforehand.

Different CPU vendors (AMD vs Intel) aren’t directly compatible for live VM migration due to instruction set differences. You can migrate via cold migration or backups, but check Sangfor HCI docs for supported cross-cluster migration options and any CPU compatibility or masking features.
