How deploy from scratch Fedora 43 as aDesk VDI

Simone Eusebi Lv1Posted Mar-06-2026 17:38

Hi,
I have to deploy a virtual lab with VDI based on Fedora 43.
I uploaded the official iso and tried to create the vm from scratch but the process hang during the first phase of loading of Fedora 43 live iso.
Is it compatible? Do I have to flag some extra options during the creation task in HCI?

Thank you in advance

Best regards

Simone

Yes, Fedora 43 can run on Sangfor HCI, but if the installation hangs while loading the live ISO, it is usually related to VM configuration.

Please try the following recommendations:

Create the VM using UEFI boot mode instead of Legacy BIOS.
Set OS type to Linux 64-bit / Other Linux.
Allocate at least 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM.
Use VirtIO for disk and network adapters.

If the issue persists, try re-uploading the ISO to rule out file corruption.

These settings usually resolve boot hang issues when deploying Fedora-based VDI templates on Sangfor HCI.

Hi Simone,
After checking in VDI environment, if not mistaken it appears that your current operating system version—along with all Fedora-based distributions—is not included in the list of supported operating systems for Sangfor VDI.

Even with the released of Sangfor HCI system also, not all Fedora version is officially recognized as a compatible platform as Supported Operating System.

For accurate planning and deployment, you can double confirm with refer to the official Sangfor VDI Operating System Compatibility List:

Hi,
Tips: Deploying a virtual lab with VDI based on Fedora 43
Mount ISO the Fedora 43 Workstation.
Install to Hard Drive.
Use Automatic Partitioning, or a 2GB /boot partition if doing manual partitioning, as required by Fedora 43.
Complete the installe and reboot.

Fedora 43 Live ISO can hang in Sangfor HCI VMs because it's not officially certified. You can check this link for reference:

Probably to avoid this, choose a generic Linux guest type in HCI rather than Fedora. Or you can try deploying an older Fedora version first and upgrade it.
