Replace Disk Fail

GUNJOHN Lv1Posted Jan-13-2026 15:42

I replaced the disk (same disk model as the failed one). After performing the disk replacement, the status became Fail, and there was a log message stating:
“Memory allocated for virtual storage of host (172.16.160.176) is insufficient, which may cause the virtual storage to be inaccessible.”
How can this be fixed?

You are using Huawei, I think third party disk is not allowed with aServer. You should request for RMA to sangfor if it's aServer

You can try reinserting the disk and verify that the physical server's storage controller detects it properly. If the disk is still not recognized or shows abnormal status, proceed to check the RAID/host bus adapter (HBA) controller firmware to ensure there are no hardware‑level issues.

The controller recognizes all disks, including the newly inserted one.
The controller and disks are in the correct mode (JBOD / non-RAID) as required by Sangfor HCI.
There are no alerts, SMART errors, or firmware incompatibilities at the hardware layer.

Ensuring the physical server level is healthy helps rule out hardware causes before further virtual storage troubleshooting.

If no issue on physical , in Sangfor HCI you can try checking the health of hard disks in a cluster environment.
You can use the aCheck tool, which performs device software health status checks including hardware checks such as hard disk health report includes device stability checks such as hard disk health, disk space, and other hardware health indicators. This process helps identify potential risks and ensures device stability across the cluster

Finally, you can try switching to another disk, maybe the Sangfor Syatem is predicting a potential disk failure or the i/o speed is not the same as the existing disks in the Sangfor HCI cluster environment.
