Amber Light (indicator status light orange)

Hello Sangfor Community,

We found that our Sangfor IAG device shows an amber/orange status indicator light. Based on the System Logs and Health Check Report, we see the following error:

Module : Alarm Event Detection (alarmevent)
Type   : Error
Time   : 05:09:37
Details: e0:alarmevent.cpp:54 exec cmd: '/ac/common/app/kvupd -v' failed

Software Version: Sangfor IAG 13.0.80.001 Build20230614
Health Check Report shows:
   Overview: Healthy
   System Load: Healthy
Running Status: Unhealthy (error logs exist)
   Databases: Unhealthy (Antivirus Database outdated)
Internet connection and user access are working normally.

My questions are:
1.What does this kvupd error mean, and why does it trigger the amber light?
2.Is this related to outdated Antivirus Database, or is it a bug in the firmware version?
3.What is the recommended action — restart the service (service kvupd restart), update to latest patch, or open a support case?
4.Will restarting this service affect internet/user traffic?

Thanks in advance for your support

Here is the answer provided by Sangfor AI Assistant for reference:
=====================================================================

1. What does this kvupd error mean, and why does it trigger the amber light?
The error message you are seeing, specifically `'/ac/common/app/kvupd -v' failed`, indicates that the antivirus database update process has encountered a failure. This failure is likely due to the antivirus database being outdated, which is confirmed by the Health Check Report stating that the "Databases: Unhealthy (Antivirus Database outdated)". The amber/orange status indicator light typically signifies that there is an issue that needs attention, such as an outdated database or an error in a critical service, which in this case is related to the antivirus database update failure.

2. Is this related to the outdated Antivirus Database, or is it a bug in the firmware version?
The kvupd error is directly related to the outdated Antivirus Database rather than a bug in the firmware version. The Health Check Report indicates that the system is otherwise healthy, and the only issue reported is the antivirus database being outdated. Therefore, it is not a firmware bug but rather a maintenance issue that needs to be addressed.

3. What is the recommended action — restart the service (service kvupd restart), update to the latest patch, or open a support case?
The recommended action in this scenario would be to **update the antivirus database**. If the database cannot be updated due to the current state of the device, you may consider restarting the kvupd service using the command `service kvupd restart` to see if it resolves the issue. However, if the problem persists after attempting to restart the service, it would be prudent to **open a support case** with Sangfor to get further assistance.

4. Will restarting this service affect internet/user traffic?
Restarting the kvupd service should not affect internet access or user traffic. The kvupd service is responsible for updating the antivirus database and does not directly manage user connections or internet access. Therefore, users who are already online should remain unaffected during the restart of this service. However, it is always advisable to perform such operations during off-peak hours to minimize any potential disruptions.
