VNGAF 8.0.26 deployment on other cloud/VM platform

Muqri Lv1Posted Jan-06-2025 11:25

HI,

Any has tried to deployed VNGAF 8.0.26 outside of sangforHCI/vmware?

image reference: https://download.sangfor.com/Download/Product/HCI/NFV/NFV_vAF_8.0.26_EN_20230323.vma

the image VNGAF 8.0.26 provided is a .vma, has anyone successfully deployed this image to any other cloud platform like openstack, hyperV, or has successfully convert the image to qcow2

Hi there,I believe it's not possible as it deploys using a template in HCI even though it's a VMA. If it just deploy like a normal VM, then it may be possible. However, in HCI it deploys under template. Plus, it deploys under Sangfor HCI virtual network. So it may require the aNET license from Sangfor.
I recommend that u check with the support team wither it's supported or not to run the vma using 3rd party virtualization
Is this answer helpful?

Hi, as far as i know, deploying ngaf vma outside HCI (on another hypervisor) is not supported.

Noted. i also tried to extract and convert the vma, its not working
for now, i can say the vAF product only for sangfor HCI not for other hypervisor.

so sangfor dont have virtual firewall appliance for other hypervisor? i saw other provider has it, like sophos, fortinet, they do support KVM, hyperV, nutanix, wmware etc.

Once converted to qcow2, upload the image to your OpenStack environment using the openstack image create command: openstack image create "VNGAF_8.0.26" --file file.qcow2 --disk-format qcow2 --container-format bare --public

Follow
1. Prepare the Environment:

  • Hypervisor: Make sure you have a running hypervisor (such as VMware ESXi, KVM, or any other).

  • Networking: Define your VM's network interfaces. Typically, you'll have a LAN and WAN network, and sometimes a management network.

  • Example for VMware/Other Hypervisor:

Create a VM that will host VNGAF.
Assign sufficient CPU (e.g., 2 or more cores), RAM (e.g., 8GB or more), and disk space (e.g., 40GB or more) based on the system requirements of VNGAF.
Make sure the VM Network is properly configured to connect to your physical network.

2. Upload and Mount the VNGAF Image:

  • Once the VM is set up, upload the VNGAF 8.0.26 ISO or OVA package to your hypervisor’s datastore.

  • Attach the ISO to the VM's CD/DVD drive for installation, or if using an OVA file, import it into your hypervisor.

3. Start the VM and Begin Installation:

  • Boot up the VM and use the attached ISO or OVA to begin the installation process.

  • During the boot process, the VNGAF installation wizard will start. Follow the on-screen instructions for installation:                                                                                        mapquest directions

      Choose the installation language.
Select the target disk for installation (if applicable).
Set up the root password and other necessary configurations.

4. Initial Configuration of VNGAF 8.0.26:

  • Once the installation is complete, the system will prompt you to configure the basic network settings.

  • Configure network interfaces:

WAN: This should connect to the internet or external network.
LAN: This should be connected to your internal network or the protected area.

  • Set up IP addresses (static or DHCP) for the interfaces.

  • Default Gateway: If required, set up the default gateway to ensure VNGAF can reach external networks.

  • DNS Settings: Ensure DNS is correctly configured for name resolution.

5. Post-Installation Setup:

  • Login to the VNGAF Web Interface:

You can access the web interface from a browser by entering the IP address configured for the management interface.
Use the admin credentials created during the installation to log in.

  • License Activation: Apply the license key for VNGAF 8.0.26. If needed, contact Sangfor support to obtain a valid license.

  • Configure Policies: Begin configuring your traffic policies, security settings, and NGAF features (e.g., firewall rules, threat detection, VPN, etc.).

6. Network Configuration & Routing:

  • Define routing between the WAN and LAN interfaces.

  • Ensure the firewall settings are correctly applied for inbound/outbound traffic, NAT (Network Address Translation), and any VPN configurations you may need.

7. Testing and Verification:

  • Test basic connectivity between the WAN and LAN interfaces.

  • Check that the traffic flows properly, and use built-in diagnostic tools to verify routing and network behavior.

  • Monitor Logs: Review the logs for any errors or warnings and ensure the system is operating correctly.

Additional Considerations:

  • Backup and Restore: Once the system is configured and running smoothly, set up a backup plan for the configuration to ensure recovery in case of failure.

  • Regular Updates: Keep the VNGAF system updated by checking for patches or newer versions from Sangfor’s support portal.

  • Documentation: Always refer to the official VNGAF documentation from Sangfor for any specific configuration details or troubleshooting.

You must deploy the NGAF VMA under an HCI environment; deployment in non-HCI environments or on other hypervisors is not supported. Retro Games

The NGAF VMA is not supported for deployment on any other hypervisor outside of HCI. world time

NGAF VMA is only supported on HCI environments. Other platforms or hypervisors are not compatible.
