Install error to Sangfor aCloud(HCI) - Raid Controller config 5

Newbie807622 Lv1Posted Jan-02-2025 19:10

Currently testing Sangfor aCloud (HCI)

There are a total of 3 servers.
1. Dell R620 / E5-2630 * 2CPU / RAM 64GB / Raid H310 Mini Controller * 1EA
2. Dell R620 / E5-2630 * 2CPU / RAM 64GB / Raid H710 Mini Controller * 2EA

Disk 1 configuration
- OS area - 300GB * 2EA, Raid0 configuration

- DATA area 300GB * 3EA, Non-Raid

Disk 2 configuration
- OS area - 300GB * 2EA, Raid0 configuration
- DATA area 300GB * 3EA, Raid0 configuration for each disk
(Because H710 controller does not have non-Raid menu.)

Sangfor HCI - OS installation on all 3 servers is complete.
I configured 3 nodes as a cluster,

When configuring Virtual Storage -> Datastore, the following error message is displayed:
"Failed to obtain the disk health information, and the disk cannot be added to the virtual datastore. If the disk is added to an RAID, please remove it from the RAID and try again.
Error occurred while checking bad sectors"

I think it's because of the Raid0 configuration.

According to the Sangfor HCI compatibility list, the H710 controller is supported.
https://www.sangfor.com/cloud-and-infrastructure/products/hci-compatibility-chart

When using the H710 RAID controller as above (a controller that cannot create Non-Raid), is there a way to configure Virtual Storage -> Datastore?

And is there a way to create Virtual Storage -> Datastore with a disk configured as Raid0 or Raid1, Raid5?

Please help.

Hi there, I believe u can try access the IDRAG and delete the RAID config. Then re-add the disk in HCI. Sangfor virtual datastore can't be configured as 0,1 or 10. The datastore configuration for sangfor HCI is that there's no option to choose what type of the RAID is due to Sangfor has its own system that is similar or works somewhat like RAID 10. Don't be confused as Sangfor aSAN or virtual datastore does not run RAID 10 but a system similar to RAID 10.

Is this answer helpful?

Configure (using RAID 0, 1, or 5 depending on your needs) the RAID array, and create & assign datastores
