I know it's not officially supported, but if I want to install Rocky Linux 9 on HCI 6.7.0, which OS option should I choose?

Thanks.

Rocky Linux 9 is not yet officially supported by VMware HCI 6.7.0. The supported operating systems for VMware HCI 6.7.0 can be found in the VMware Compatibility Guide.

However, you may be able to install Rocky Linux 9 on HCI 6.7.0 using a custom ISO. This would involve creating a custom image of Rocky Linux 9 that includes the necessary drivers for the HCI 6.7.0 platform.

To create a custom ISO, you can use the VMware Image Builder tool, which allows you to create custom images of operating systems that are tailored to your specific environment. You can find more information about Image Builder in the VMware documentation.

Rocky Linux 9 is not officially supported on HCI 6.7.0, as you mentioned. However, if you still want to install Rocky Linux 9 on HCI 6.7.0, you can try selecting "Other Linux (64-bit)" as the operating system option during the installation process.

Keep in mind that since it is not officially supported, there is a risk that some features may not work correctly, and it may not be fully compatible with HCI 6.7.0. It's important to thoroughly test your system after installation to ensure it is functioning as expected.

Rocky is currently one of the best CentOS alternatives. The distribution is free, open source, and caters to production workloads.

Rocky Linux is based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) source code, just like CentOS was, and is designed to provide long-term support for enterprise customers. It is expected to provide the same level of stability, performance, and security as RHEL and CentOS, and to be compatible with the vast ecosystem of software and tools that are available for those distributions. so you can choose RHEL or CentOS as an option on HCI 6.7.0
