Hello,
to craete a virtual storage based on disks of nodes i have create storage network interface and then i precede to create the virtual storage ,after choose of disks it ask me for storage node
please tell me how to create storage node??

You are trying, now, to create a stretched datastore, it's not your case; for two nodes in the same datacenter, you need to create an ordinary datastore.

Grab two 10Gb NICS, one for each node server, direct attach them and reinstall the cluster using the stable release; follow the procedure for an ordinary cluster and datastore in the manual.

Hi again,
as I said earlier, you should read another time the manual; a witness node it's needed on a stretched cluster, not your case if remember correctly.

Page 86 of manual
A witness datastore of 2 nodes and 1 witness node is available for newly created clusters only. If only 2 nodes are deployed for an existing witness datastore, the deployment mode cannot be changed to 2 nodes and 1 witness node after the upgrade.

I really suggest you to read this pages of the manual SANGFOR_HCI_V6.11.1_User Manual_EN:

52, 79 , 86 (which seems to aim at this problem),

Because this it's a "demo" cluster right now, or at least I think it is, can you destroy this cluster and restart from scratch using the stable release?

P.S: Remember also the 10Gb of the storage link...with 2 nodes you can direct attach them.

Hi again,
you should remove the witness node from the datastore; it's job it's to "only" be the one that control the cluster, to prevent split-brain issue, not to be "part" of the cluster datastore.

Otherwise, I guess the problem can be the bleeding edge version that you chose; right now, the stable version it's:

HCI6.10.0_R2

Try with that and let us know.

You have an Ordinary Datastore, if i saw the IPs correctly.

Besides that, you NEED a 10Gb communication between the nodes for the virtual storage network; I saw that you used 1Gb NICS for that, right?

Sangfor HCI V6.11.1 User Manual Version 01 (Feb. 24, 2025) PAGE 50

Storage switch
Recommended Value

1. A 10 Gigabit switch must be used.
2. To configure a storage area network using RDMA, the switch NIC must support the RDMA feature, and the switch is recommended to be configured with a business services congestion control algorithm.

Precaution

1. Gigabit switchesare prohibited for private storage networks.
2. If the switch of a storage area network using RDMA is not configured with a congestion control algorithm,
may encounteretwork congestion during off-peak hours

---

I then suggest you to re-read the chapter 3.5 Virtual Storage Configuration of Sangfor HCI V6.11.1 User Manual Version 01 (Feb. 24, 2025) PAGE 112

An SSD cache in front of the data disk can be great with "spinning rust" data disks.

Remember this if you opt for a cache disk:

1. Non enterprise SSDs are prohibited.
2. The cache disk cannot use SSDs smaller than 240GB.
3. SSDs with DWPD less than 1 are prohibited (the spec parameter table of SSD can be found).
4. Do not use SSDs that do not support power-down data protection.
5. SSDs with IOPs less than 30000 are prohibited from joining the virtualdatastore.

Hi Newbie761577,
the question it's not really clear, I'll try to answer it the best I can understand it:

- If you need to create a datastore for a single node installation, you cannot create a virtual storage; you should create a volume before with an hardware RAID. You NEED to have some kind of notification for this because for the HCI it's "only" a single disk, that you can use as a datastore.

- If you are using multiple nodes, you need to use a virtual storage and it's license; the Sangfor technology will distribute (based on the number of nodes and you choice) the data across the storage space on multiple nodes. There's "no" concept of a "central SAN" in this case; for information only:

https://ceph.io/en/

- You could use ISCSI, but you NEED to really check it's performance / reliability.

Let me know if I can help in some other way.
