Sangfor about configuring connections with different IP subnets

Hello,

I am currently trying to use the iSCSI feature to connect to external storage that resides in a different IP segment (remote site) so that I can back up data there. As you know, the first prerequisite for establishing an iSCSI connection is that the HCI must be able to communicate with the remote storage.

To satisfy this condition, I believe a VPN (or similar method) would be required to enable communication between my HCI and the remote storage server. Could you please advise which specific menu in Sangfor (version 6.10.0 R2) I should use to configure this type of VPN or remote connectivity? Alternatively, if there are other recommended ways to allow communication with an external IP across different subnets, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

Thank you very much for your kind support.

In summary, ensure that the HCI can communicate with the external iSCSI storage by configuring the network properly, using a dedicated NIC, and setting up routing as necessary. For VPN configuration, check the Sangfor management console under the network settings. If you need further assistance, consulting the official documentation or support may provide additional insights tailored to your specific version and setup.

Depending on how the infrastrcture is set up, especially if you have an external firewall, you may need to setup a site to site vpn.
Once that is up, assuming firewall rules are set up correctly, the backup will appear seamless as for the HCI it will feel like the subnets are adjacent even though they are remote.

I'm not a networking expert, but if you're planning to communicate between different IP subnets, I believe you'll need a Layer 3 network device. Sangfor Firewall might also handle this, as most modern firewalls support multiple OSI layers, including Layer 3.
