Hi,

I believe there's a built-in back up in Sangfor HCI, I just want to know how does that works? Is it image level, file level, and likes... ?

Can you backup VMs in Sangfor appliance and in other 3rd party storage?

It is possible to extract files individually, although there are some limitations. paper minecraft

The built-in backup is more image-level there.  You can also extract files at the file level, but there are restrictions. For instance, I think the last time I tried to download any kind of file, there was a limit of less than 20GB.

Yes there is. However, built-in backup feature of Sangfor HCI primarily uses VM image-level backups ONLY. This means it captures the entire virtual machine as a single image using snapshots to back up the whole VM state, including its OS, applications, and data, rather than backing up individual files inside the VM.

For file-level recovery, you might need additional tools or integration with third-party backup solutions that support granular file-level restores.

Yes, Sangfor HCI includes a built-in VM backup feature that works at the image-level (full VM backup) not individual file-level backup.

Local Sangfor HCI storage (built-in)

External/3rd-party storage that supports standard backup protocols

File-level recovery would require restoring the VM image first then accessing the files inside it.
