HCI VM When Installing Alma Linux 9 "Kernel Panic"

Issue Description

Create a new VM and try to install Alma Linux 9, however, it start-up with kernel panic.

1. According to the research from the online article.
- RedHat has decided to build release 9 against newer CPU architectures which include instructions not present in virtualized CPUs.

2. It is required to use host CPU to install the Alma Linux 9.

Root Cause

RedHat has decided to build release 9 against newer CPU architectures which include instructions not present in virtualized CPUs.

Solution

1. Enable the use CPU from host.

Path: Edit the VM > under Configuration select Processor > check the Use CPU from host.


2. After this, it is able to install the Alma Linux 9 on HCI platform.
