There are several causes that you can check.

1. Missing or Outdated Disk Drivers
2. Insufficient Permissions (Less likely but you can validate)
3. Unsupported Disk Format or Configuration
4. WMI or VSS Issues
5. Virtiant Converter Compatibility

Try this

1. Run the converter as Administrator.
2. Update or install the correct storage controller driver.
3. Ensure disk is basic, NTFS formatted, not dynamic.
4. Check WMI service is running:
- net stop winmgmt
- net start winmgmt

5. If still failing > Try running the ISO-based P2V migration method (boot the server with HCI installation ISO and migrate directly). This avoids driver issues.

You can look at a number of causes.  1. Outdated or absent disk drivers  2. Inadequate Permissions (more unlikely, but you can confirm)  3. Unsupported Configuration or Disk Format  4. VSS or WMI Problems  5. Compatibility with Virtual Converters  Try this.  1. Use Administrator to launch the converter.  2. Install or update the appropriate driver for the storage controller.  3. Verify that the disk is basic, not dynamic, and formatted with NTFS.  4. Verify that the WMI service is operational:  - net stop victory  - net start victory  5. Try the ISO-based P2V migration approach (start the server with the HCI installation ISO and migrate directly) if it's still not working.  By doing this, driving problems are avoided.

Here are the possible fix step or solution:

1. Run as Administrator - Ensure the converter is launched with full administrative privileges.
2. Use Cold Migration - Perform the migration using the Sangfor Converter Boot ISO (offline method).
3. Check Disk Format - The disk must be set to MBR and use a Basic layout (not Dynamic).
4. Update Storage Drivers - Confirm the system is using standard SATA/AHCI drivers, not proprietary RAID.
5. Verify Required Services - Make sure WMI, Virtual Disk, and Plug and Play services are active.
6. Additional Checks - Repair WMI if needed, test VSS writers, and disconnect any encrypted or external drives.

Hi, may I know what's the HCI version? The cause maybe due to old firmware version. At the same time, the converter is not as reliable for migration for Sangfor. I recommend using Sangfor SCMT, its more reliable for migration P2V. Just that it require license and you can try request it from sangfor support.

Just if it for newly deploy, u can get it for free. If not, there are some cases you'll have to pay for it

Hello, could you tell me the HCI version?  An outdated firmware version could be the culprit.  However, the converter is less dependable for Sangfor migration.  Sangfor SCMT is more dependable for P2V migration, hence I suggest using it.  You can try requesting it from sangfor support, but it requires a license.  You can receive it for free if it's just for freshly deployed.  If not, you may be required to pay for it in certain situations.
